Location

We are located in downtown Asheville, on what is now being called the “South Slope.” We are on the third floor of 120 Coxe Avenue. The building and the studio are handicap accessible. You can park on Coxe Avenue in 2-hour non-metered spaces. There is FREE parking available in the gravel lot on 16 BANKS AVENUE across from Collier Avenue and next door to Vortex Donuts during the week Monday thru Friday 7am-7pm. Towing is enforced after 7:00 PM.  To park in the 140 Coxe Avenue lot you will need to pay for parking using the ParkMobile App on your phone. The cost is $3.00 for up to 8 hours. ENTER the building from the back side; either climb the stairs, or take the elevator to the third floor.

Features

One Center Yoga has two spacious and light-filled yoga classrooms with body-friendly bamboo floors. We are the only studio in Asheville with a yoga rope wall and a Great Yoga Wall™. The ropes and wall accessories allow students to move into poses with greater balance, stretch, and stability. Plus, it’s just fun to climb up the wall and hang from the ropes!

We stock everything you need for classes, so there is no need to bring your own “stuff,” although you are welcome to. We have mats, straps, bolsters, blankets, blocks made from foam, wood, and cork—even the Three Minute Egg™—an ergonomic foam egg-shaped block. We sell a wide range of props, good-quality yoga clothing, and books and CDs on anatomy, yoga poses, the yoga sutras, Iyengar yoga, mindfulness practice, Buddhism, and many other related titles.

Work-Study Students

We are fortunate to work with a dozen dedicated and delightful work-study students, who, like cheerful yogic elves, accomplish a long list of tasks essential to the running of the studio. You will meet them at the front desk, checking you in and answering your questions about which classes to take; expertly selling you yoga tights, leggings, shorts, or a colorful bolster; cleaning the mats, blankets, straps, and blocks; gently dust-mopping the floors after every class; cleaning and restocking the bathrooms; putting together the flyers and the enewsletter; and helping with countless other activities that support the overall health and happiness of our yoga studio.

In exchange for their work, these elves accumulate hours that allow them to take yoga classes at no cost and to enjoy discounts on workshops and retail products. If you are interested in becoming part of this team, please talk to Diane at the front desk.

The passion I hold for these mountains and nature is the same passion I carry for Yoga and Massage. I’m drawn to the awareness that Bodywork and its connection to the Body-mind brings as it allows us to harness our true nature. In each session I utilize the teachings of Yoga, Massage, and Ayurveda, connecting them into a customized modality to offer individualized care for the whole self to come into harmony with its own nature.” You may contact Brooke at brookejohnsonwnc@gmail.com or visit her website www.brookejohnsonbodywork.com
