In yoga, we learn to bring our body and our mind to class, onto the mat, exactly how we are. We all begin where we are in that moment—even those of us with years of yoga experience. We plant our feet and toes on the mat and turn our attention inwards. We breathe. We breathe some more. We learn to be aware of every part of our body and how it moves…or doesn’t want to move! We try to notice, without judgment, the thoughts and feelings that arise. We don’t compare ourselves to the student next to us.
