Lydia Michaels is a certified yoga therapist through the American Viniyoga Institute, and works with seniors, individuals experiencing low back and hip pain, and people dealing with heart disease, or trauma. She offers yoga classes, educational presentations, and individual yoga therapy.
After many years as a dancer, Lydia began teaching yoga, drawn to its precise focus on anatomy and movement; later she was captivated by its rich history and spiritual teachings. Her background in counseling led her to become certified in yoga therapy—a practical, embodied way of addressing pain and dysfunction at every level of being.
“Through the years, I have found that a personal yoga practice is the center of self-communion and self-regulation. True healing happens in sacred communion with your self, and from there, with everything around you. A conscious yoga practice can help you reflect on what is working in your life and what needs refinement or correction. The trained eye of a teacher can offer helpful feedback, and the two should work together to create a supportive dynamic for a more conscious, peaceful life.”
Lydia has over 8 years of teaching experience and 1,200 hours of advanced training. Her wealth of knowledge is the foundation for her work, while the yoga teachings continually unfold in the present moment—connected, intuitive, deeply spiritual, yet practical and relevant.
